Children’s Fairyland is a whimsical 10-acre storybook park on the shores of Oakland’s Lake Merritt, designed for families with little ones (ages 0-8). Explore magical playsets, meet friendly animals, watch puppet shows, and enjoy rides, live performances and hands-on fun in a safe, outdoor wonderland. Sparking imagination and joy since 1950!

The Bay Area’s most talented kid-lit authors, illustrators, publishers, booksellers, and creatives come together and fill Fairyland up with the magic of books, inspiring a lifelong love for literature in all who join.

Halloween Jam

October 24-26 & Special Event on Fri, October 31 (Halloween!)

This year’s Halloween Jam runs for four days of science-y silliness! Ease into fun with a playful weekend of themed crafts and activities (October 24-26 from 10am-4pm), then return on Halloween Day (October 31 from 12pm-7pm) for a full park transformation! Trick-or-treat through the park, explore eeek-citing science lab stations, and revel in mad magic during our extended evening hours.

Oakland's Magic Kitchen

Chef Osvaldo Diaz of Agave Uptown is bringing a secret recipe to Oakland’s Magic Kitchen and hosting our season finale with Fairyland’s furry friend, Quercus. Together they will walk you and your littles through the tips and tricks that keep his kitchen lit! Taste the recipe, learn the magic. Meet, greet, and eat with a local legend.

Join us for three family fun-filled weekends of celebrating and uplifting the vibrant beauty within the Latinx diaspora with traditional arts & crafts, hands-on learning experiences, new workshops, and special performances by Aguacero Puerto Rican Bomba, Cuicacalli ballet folklorico, Brazilian drum master Marcos Odara, and more!
