How much do
Fairyland field trips cost?
The cost is $4 per person (adult or child). Infants
under the age of 1 are free.
Does Fairyland
offer subsidies for low-income groups?
Yes. Through our outreach program we’re
able to underwrite field trips to
eligible organizations. If you believe your
organization qualifies for a subsidized field trip,
please contact us.
In your subject line, please write “outreach
request.”
How many adults
should plan on coming?
You must provide one adult for every five children.
When can we
bring a group?
We accept field trips year round, weekdays only.
Please see our field trip calendar for restrictions.
How do I reserve
a field trip?
We offer four convenient ways to make a reservation:
-
Register
online. Your information will be secure, and
you’ll receive the fastest possible response.
-
Download a
form and fax it to us at (510) 452-2261. You may
also mail it to us or drop it off during our
open hours.
- Call our
programs supervisor at (510) 452-2259 or leave a
voicemail message at (510) 238-6878 #4. We will
mail you a reservation form.
- Stop by our
office during open hours and ask for a
reservation form.
How will I know
my reservation is confirmed?
To save paper, we will email your confirmation
letter and packet to your email address. If you
don’t have email, we will mail the letter and packet
to you.
Do I need to
bring my confirmation letter with me on the day of
the field trip?
Yes. Please print your confirmation and bring it.
I lost my
confirmation letter. What should I do?
Please email the programs supervisor or call us at
(510) 452-2259.
I never received
a confirmation packet. Am I confirmed for my date?
Email the programs supervisor or call us at (510)
452-2259 to make sure we received your field trip
request.
Does Children’s
Fairyland accept purchase orders?
Yes. Make sure your school name and the date of your
trip are on your purchase order. If the P.O. is less
than the total amount on the day of your trip, you
will need to pay in full the day of your trip. If
the P.O. is more than the total amount on the day of
your trip, we will send your school a check for the
balance.
What if it
rains?
Our operations department determines all park
closures by 9:30 a.m., based on safety conditions.
If we decide to close the park, our programs
supervisor will call the school, notify you, and
reschedule your field trip. You may also call our
office at (510) 452-2259 to check about park closures.
We have
additional adults who would like to bring siblings
of the children in the class. May they join us?
Yes. As long as you have one adult for every five
children, we will honor the field-trip rate for the
additional visitors. There is no charge for infants
under the age of 1.
What if the
chaperones pay for themselves?
Please ask teachers or group leaders to collect the
money before arriving at Children's Fairyland. To
receive the field trip rate, the chaperones must be
included in the total head count for your trip.
What if some parents show up after the class has
entered the park?
Late arrivals—adults or children—must pay $6 per
person to enter the park. Lone adults will be
escorted by a Fairyland manager into the park; they
must be identified as part of your group by a
teacher or group leader.
How can I speed
up check-in?
Please be sure the teacher or group leader who made
the reservation has received full payment for the
trip. If additional people have joined your group,
please collect their money before arriving at
Children's Fairyland. It would also be helpful if
you know the total number of children, the total
number of adults (including you) and the total
number of infants under the age of 1.
More than one
group from our school will be arriving on the same
bus. Will we need separate reservations?
The teacher or group leader who made the reservation
will pay for the field trip to enter the park. If
there is more than one class and each is paying
separately, each teacher must make his or her own
reservation.
If I don’t make
a reservation and simply show up with my group, can
I still receive the field trip discount?
No. You must have a confirmation letter to receive
the field trip discount.
What special program do
you have for Field Trips?
Our Dr. Doolittle Education Program is great for
school groups. Join one of Dr.Doolittle’s
special helpers and enjoy an interactive session
with Fairyland’s furry friends where you can
find out the answers to all your questions. For
an additional $40 your group of 20 or less can
participate in this creative learning
experience. Sessions run for 30 minutes with a
trained animal keeper. This program is only
available for Field Trips booked
Wednesday-Friday (and Thursday-Friday in
June-August). Ask for this program when
registering for your Field Trip.
Where can we have
lunch?
The Johnny Appleseed Café inside Fairyland has
tempting munchies, healthy lunches and drinks.
There are also picnic tables and a large grass
area open to the public at our Teddy Bear Picnic
Area. Or if you need some group quite time for
lunch, or just to create a general meeting spot
your Field Trip group can rent our Cinderella
Party Area for $40 per hour.
