The
Children’s Theater Program emphasizes an
ensemble creative process that capitalizes on
the strengths of each child and challenges him
or her to develop skills in acting,
improvisation, creative movement, voice, public
speaking, ethnic music, and dance. In addition,
our child Fairyland Personalities are trained to
serve as ambassadors and role models for the
younger children in the park. Their “jobs” may
include face-painting, helping with rides, and
assisting with arts and crafts.

”Over
the years I’ve developed leadership
skills and learned to have fun while
becoming more open and mature.”
--
Ashley Ison, Fairyland Personality,
2002 |
Fairyland
Children’s Theater encourages educational values
inherent in the
performing arts. Participants
research and learn about the origins of the
diverse cultural stories they perform and share
their discoveries with the children in the
Fairyland community. The program fosters
self-confidence, communication skills,
and
teamwork, qualities that prove invaluable not
just during the performance season but
throughout the children’s lives.

“Everyone is so dedicated to making
the experience wonderful!”
– Jacob Basri, Fairyland
Personality, 2001 |
The Children’s
Theater Program is a true family experience. At
least one parent must attend auditions and
regularly scheduled meetings and must bring his
or her child to all rehearsals. Parents are
encouraged to share their skills in set
building, prop making, and cultural lore, and to
chaperone at parades and other community events.
As many past
participants will tell you, the Children’s
Theater Program is often hard work—but it is
also fun and rewarding. Many of our alumni
attribute their success in adult life to the
self-confidence they gained from their Fairyland
Personality experience.
