Favorite childhood
stories come to life in the nearly 40 storybook
sets throughout Fairyland. The Three Little
Pigs’
three little houses, Humpty Dumpty’s wall,
Pinocchio’s castle—stroll through our park (or
run through, if you’re a child) and discover
them all.
The original storybook sets were designed by
local architect William Russell Everitt, whose
whimsical creations featured wildly off-kilter
walls, bright colors, and—most
important—child-size proportions. In the more
than 55 years since we opened, we’ve gradually
added and remodeled many sets, but always in the
original spirit.
Here are some of our best-known storybook sets.
Come visit us and explore them all!
The Old Lady in the
Shoe
The Old Lady in the Shoe has symbolized
Fairyland to generations of kids. She waves a
cheery hello to everyone who approaches our
Fairy Gates. (top image)

Talking Storybook Boxes
Turn your Magic Key ($2 at our admission gate)
in any of our talking Storybook Boxes and hear
the story behind the set! Coming soon:
Spanish-language versions of all our recorded
stories.

Jolly Roger Pirate Ship
The Jolly Roger Pirate Ship from J.M. Barrie’s
“Peter Pan” is hugely popular with older
children (and adventurous little ones), who love
to climb the rope ladder into the crow’s nest.
Watch out for the crocodile!

Old West Junction
Our newest attraction, Old West Junction, was
completed in 2005. An authentic-looking livery
stable, bank, jail, and water-tower slide invite
kids to act out their favorite tall tales in
fantasy play.

Chapel of Peace
The Chapel of Peace is a haven of serenity where
parents and kids can enjoy a pleasant “time
out.” During Fairy Winterland in December, this
is where Santa Claus distributes gifts to
Fairyland visitors.

Alice in Wonderland
Tunnel
One of the most popular sets in Fairyland, the
Alice in Wonderland tunnel descends into the
ground, winds around the park, and brings young
tunnelers to the playing-card maze. Windows
inside the tunnel provide a glimpse of scenes
from the story.

Dragon Slide
It may look big and fearsome, but our Dragon
Slide is fun for kids over 4. Sorry, no adults!

Willie the Whale
Climb down the stairs to greet Willie the Whale.
Yes, he actually spouts water from his blowhole!

Peter Rabbit’s Garden
Peter Rabbit’s Garden was inspired by the
beloved stories by Beatrix Potter. Our rabbits
and guinea pigs make their homes there—stop by
and say hello.

Happy Dragon
Kids love to climb all over our Happy Dragon,
who lounges comfortably just inside the gates.
Pull his tongue and hear a story about
Fairyland!
Thumbelina Tunnel
Thumbelina Tunnel, one of Fairyland’s original
sets, is currently being re-themed and rebuilt
with voter-approved Measure DD funds. Look for
its grand re-opening by mid-2008.
