Día de los Muertos Art Exhibit
November 3-5 and 10-12
At Children's Fairyland, we’re proud to host a Día de los Muertos art exhibit within the walls of our gorgeous chapel and mysteriously placed throughout the park. The curated artwork and objects of beauty are all created by our dear friends, local artists in grades TK-5 at Global Family Elementary School/Escuela de la Familia Global in Oakland!
The art, decorations, ofrendas, statues, flowers, calaveras, paper maiche, papel picado, and other stunning embellishments associated with Día de los Muertos are absolutely iconic and explosively colorful. This boldly vibrant and joyous way of remembering the departed makes this holiday so well loved by so many folks, including those who are newcomers to the tradition, one that is as sacred as it is celebratory.
When you visit the park during the first two weekends of November, you’ll find a feast for your senses awaits you and your family. Make your way over to the exhibit in our Chapel of Peace to see the stunning magic created by 450 inspired elementary artists.

Special Activity: You’re invited to create your own inspired artwork for one day only, on Sunday, November 5 from 1-3 p.m. with local artist and educator, Rachel Anne, Palacios. Palacios is a self-taught, multicultural artist based in Oakland. Her art reflects the respect she has for culture, religion, traditional values, elders, and the cycle of life and death. She was a Museum Educator at the Oakland Museum of CA from 2004-2016. She is now sharing her cultural arts education programming with libraries throughout the Bay Area and is the Co-Chair of the Cultural Arts Committee at an OUSD school.
Come be immersed in life affirming beauty and tap into your own creative ways to remember and celebrate lives lived.
